Yanet

Yanet Raesu - Youth Detention Center

Where do you attend church? Union Church

What’s your favorite Bible Verse? Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

At which facility do you serve? Youth Detention Center, Charles Hickey School

Why did you decide to volunteer inside the jails? During the pandemic, moved to Louisiana, lost access to the community. Praying, feeling isolated, God put prisoners on my heart. I started writing to prisoners, and heard that God was proving miracles behind bars. When I moved to Baltimore, God called me to the prisoners.

Is there one person/boy you have connected with? Tavon. He is consistent, a leader, and a paradox.

What skills do you have that make you successful in your service? Listening, relational equity, earn the right to share the Truth

What will change the climate of youth violence in Baltimore? Proactive intervention before incarceration. Behavior, the tongue, black people.

Comments:  I am able to tell others about the boys, we need to disciple them, train them up, and love them.  There are others people like me that are available to serve or have a passion but they are untapped.
