Hebrews 13:3 ‘Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

In December of last year, we sensed God drawing us to serve more kids. After a successful fundraising event we took a step of faith and moved towards expansion. The Board laid out an aggressive plan focused on Area Director designations, support teams for each area, and additional staff. As a result, we are now actively serving in the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, Harford County Detention Center, the Waxter Center for Girls, and we are working on developing a program at the Patuxent Institution in Jessup.

Some of the pledges we were counting on from our fundraising event have fallen through and other regular donations have been reduced. Still, We are confident that God wants us to serve incarcerated boys and girls in Maryland and we are trusting in His Providence.

This year we will serve over 600 kids; mentoring, tutoring and teaching with our eyes focused on Jesus and His plans for their eternity. It is difficult for me to say that I have not raised enough money to sustain us through the end of this year. My business mind says that I have failed but I know that He is teaching me to be dependent on His manna daily. I am focused on Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Our newsletter goes out to more than 600 people, if 200 of our friends can give $50 to $100, we can meet our immediate obligations for insurance, rent on a small office space, resources for classes, and the part time salaries for our staff. Please pray about coming alongside us and partnering in the gospel with unCUFFED to serve the kids we love so much.
