This very popular Christian quote has been attributed over the years to theologian Francis of Assisi but he never said it. As the linked article states, “it is intended to say that proclaiming the Gospel by example is more virtuous than actually proclaiming with voice.”
At unCUFFED we walk the walk. We come alongside kids with unconditional love, acceptance, forgiveness, and service. We share Christ’s love by example but we still know that it is impossible to share the full, consequential gospel message that transforms lives without words. It seems that societal pressures can push us to hold back on certain words and bold declarations because they may be perceived as divisive or exclusionary but we are told to “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” We are ready.
‘God is Love” is such an important part of our gospel and displaying that love through actions allows you to build the relationships and earn the Trust necessary to speak more forcefully and consequentially about love and consequences.
